Week 47 Theme 2 ultrawide aspect ratio

Spark!
Date Taken: 2021-11-29 19:14:46 | Camera Model: ILCE-7M3 | Lens: FE 28mm F2 + Ultra Wide Converter | Focal Length: 21 mm | Mode: Program AE | Aperture: f/3.2 | Exposure Time: 0.006 sec (1/160) | ISO: 1600

On a brighter note, for my ultrawide aspect ratio photo this week, a picture taken with my ultrawide attachment on the FE 28mm F2 lens. Spark! are a highly imaginative and choreographed drumming trope - highly commended if they ever come your way ...

Week 47 Theme 3 vintage digital

Moche Owl God
Date Taken: 2013-05-27 11:11:49 | Camera Model: NEX-7 | Lens: E 30mm F2.8 | Focal Length: 30 mm | Mode: Program AE | Aperture: f/4.0 | Exposure Time: 0.017 sec (1/60) | ISO: 1600 | 35mm Equivalent: 45 mm | Location: Pueblo Libre, Lima region, Peru | Latitude/Longitude: -12.072470, -77.070959

Back to 2013 again for the vintage digital shot, on a NEX-7 with a Sigma E 30mm F2.8 lens. This object from the Museo Larco is 'An anthropomorphic owl dressed as a warrior and standing under an arch formed by a serpent with two feline heads. This is one of the principal gods of Moche culture and it is associated with the night, the occult and death.'

Week 47 ended on Sunday so I'm not too far behind.

Week 48 Theme 1: Peru trip, May 2012

Angels
NEX-3 and E 16mm F2.8

I have finished my Peru trip photos so I'll use these last three weeks to feature some photos that made my shortlist, but not the #1 spot.

First, from May 2012 a pair of angels that remind me - just - of the current series of Doctor Who and the Weeping Angels featured therein. Don't blink!

Week 49 Theme 1: Orkneys and Western Isles trip, April 2017

Macleod Bros
A7 and Minolta AF 24-85mm F3.5-4.5

The second theme I explored (between the two Peru trips) was a visit in 2017 to Orkney and the Outer Hebrides. Here at Stillgary on South Uist we passed a closed store, a phone box, and - bonus point - a post box.

Week 49 Theme 2 ultrawide aspect ratio

Edge
Date Taken: 2021-12-04 14:39:33 | Camera Model: ILCE-7 | Lens: 500mm F8 Reflex | Focal Length: 500 mm | Mode: Shutter speed priority AE | Aperture: f/8.0 | Exposure Time: 0.002 sec (1/500) | ISO: 400

I was out on a walk around the Wittenham Clumps yesterday with my Reflex 500 and this edge to one of the ditches around Castle Hill caught the light and illustrates the quirky bokeh of the lens well.

Week 49 Theme 3 vintage digital

Trees
Date Taken: 2021-12-04 14:27:38 | Camera Model: ILCE-7 | Lens: 500mm F8 Reflex | Focal Length: 500 mm | Mode: Shutter speed priority AE | Aperture: f/8.0 | Exposure Time: 0.002 sec (1/500) | ISO: 400

Also at Wittenham Clumps with the Reflex 500, the crown of the trees on Round Hill look stark against the out-of-focus clouds behind. (The A7 camera is no longer manufactured by Sony and so fits my definition of vintage digital, especially when paired with the Minolta lens.)

Great to see all your travels Howard, both to warm regions as well as the what seems cold and windy Orkneys. I also like the last one, nice luminous BW conversion and nothing giving away it's a mirror lens shot.
You can see the April Foolishness 2021 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

Week 50 Theme 1: Peru trip, May 2013

Shadows on wall
NEX-7 with Sigma E 30mm F2.8

My final holiday-themed thread photo comes from May 2013 and the second trip to Peru. Who could miss these colours and the shadows? I'm pleased too that this one got through to Explore on Flickr.

Week 50 Theme 2 ultrawide aspect ratio

Torridge at Bideford
Date Taken: 2021-12-12 15:10:44 | Camera Model: ILCE-7M3 | Lens: FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS | Focal Length: 54 mm | Mode: Program AE | Aperture: f/5.6 | Exposure Time: 0.003 sec (1/320) | ISO: 100

I said at the outset that I might through the odd panorama into the ultrawide aspect ratio thread, and here we are, on Bideford Quay on Sunday afternoon and the view towards the old Long Bridge and East-the-Water. I am pleased to conclude this thread with a visit to my home town.

Week 50 Theme 3 vintage digital

Christmas tree and star of St Andrew's
Date Taken: 2021-12-13 17:35:08 | Camera Model: DSLR-A900 | Lens: 50mm F1.4 | Focal Length: 50 mm | Mode: Manual | Aperture: f/1.4 | Exposure Time: 0.04 sec (1/25) | ISO: 200

And for my final vintage digital shot, an outtake for the Week 50 challenge, with the 50mm F1.4 on a Sony A900 recording the Christmas tree at the neighbourhood church.

Phew!

Thanks for looking - and for the comments during the past year. I'm pleased with the outcome and the fact that a few of these photos have made the weekly galleries, including POTW on one occasion. The support is much appreciated - what a great place Dyxum is!
