My first annual challenge. I love the idea of a 3 x 50 project. My challenges in short:
1. (short) telephoto - Too make more use of my two new primes; 75mm & 135mm. Get into the learningcurve of this FL and outside my comfortzone/most used/beloved 35mm. 2. Streetshot - Keep up my flow of daily commute scenery. I'll give it my best to get people in the frame, no promises..... Should be my easiest project as I do love to stroll the streets of Rotterdam 3. Anything creative (inspired by Wetapunga's Novel technique) - Longshutter speeds, multiple shots/stitches, extention tubes, filters, lens-wacking, anything realy that gets the brain working outside the box. No 50 different styles, but likely some series of technique or the other. Also looking forward to get a look into the projects of others here on dyxum, should be fun! No sure yet how to showcase my pics in this tread, but will work it out somehow. (note to self - try street photography sometime) I don't really let people appear in my images, so this 'street photography' thing is perhaps something I should try one day. We also have those pavement/sidewalk stencil signs - everywhere - in town. Faded now, I think when they were painted they probably didn't think to use long lasting paint!
The stitch shot is really calming, so were you tripod mounted and moving on a axis or free-style (hand-held)? Somewhere on my 'future shopping list' is a Voigtländer lens again. I'm gonna enjoy viewing those this year. (and the mystery 135) r.e.s.p.e.c.t. for making them all 21:9 too - I've seen a few nods to that in the open theme threads (and click the imaginary like button every time). |

@onsplekkie - that stitch looks marvellous. Well done. I like the way the mist/cloud is clinging to the ground. Do you usually use LR for your stitching?

@Dcap - Yes, to me having pictures with people in them gives the pic a 'second story'. I know from experience that it can feel a bit akward taking pics from 'strangers', but please try it, maybe you'll get hooked
![]() The stitch is handheld, the software allows error to some limit. But me, I don't mind imperfection if it gives me portability and creativity. Any photographer who enjoys manual focus should try Voigtlander. I prefer the M-mount lenses as they give me the option of a close-focus helicoid adapter on the Sony bodies, giving it some macro possibilities. And with the Techart pro adapter gives the lens autofocus on the A7 bodies, best of both worlds ![]() @Wetapunga - Some years ago I stitched with software called PTgui. This gave me many options, but took some time/effort to convert/export/stitch/import. I've not stitched for some time now, and lightroom gives you this option, probably me being lazy ![]() |

Street is something I've always enjoyed viewing photos of. And while I have and do shoot on the street a lot I'm so fussy with my framing and attempts to get no people that I know I'm missing the true version of 'Street'. I call myself a 'Street photographer with no people in the frame' ... and once lockdown is lifted it is perhaps time to change that.
Then when I look back at street photos people have taken 10-20+ years ago and I totally get that this is a branch I would like to delve into. I'd love to go fully the other way too and get what I refer to as 'permission portraits'. 100 strangers type, something I've always seen as the ultimate challenge - and this is often mis-interpreted and shot as candid (valid style and enjoyable too, but not 100 strangers). Anyways, thank you for sharing the street images - we also get to see life elsewhere. |

Ah. I've been on LR5.7 for a while and have only recently moved to C1. To date I've just tried to line up the overlapping frames on the tripod properly, so the software isn't challenged. Microsoft ICE has been my go to. |

While street photography isn't generally my thing, it will be interesting to follow your journeys through the year. The other two are real knockouts, especially MistyMeijendaal - great light
