I've made up my mind for the three topics I will cover for the Photo 150 challenge
1: A day prime or month prime shot of the week (so combining with other Dyxum Challenges). In weeks there is no day or month prime I'll use a zoom with the restriction that it's somewhere in the zoom range and not at one of the zoom ends. 01: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 06: ![]() ![]() 2: Vintage digital macro, using my 15 year old KM5D and my 13 year old A700 with one of the A-mount macro lenses I have (Minolta 100/2.8 D and Sigma 180/3.5) 01: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 06: ![]() ![]() ![]() 3: A dig in the archive, the shot needs to be taken at least 12 month ago and not be posted before 01: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 06: ![]() ![]() ![]() Topic 1 and 2 will be in some cases combined with HDR, Panorama or focus stacking to practice my technical skills with those techniques. I will also use the 1:1 and 21:9 cropping options a lot more than I would normally do, but still use one of the full dimensions of the sensor (maybe just a very small loss caused by minor straightening) Topic 3 will be sequential and by quarter, starting 1Q2006 (when I got my KM5D) and ending 50 quarters later (2Q2019) Edited by pegelli - 23 February 2021 at 12:35 |

I think I will follow the others good lead and create an index with thumbnails in my first post. That also means I can just post new images as consecutive posts and not one per week which is probably a better idea to get through the whole year.

week 1 - topic 3 (dig in the archive)
Since there are about 50 quarters since the day I got my first DSLR in January 2006 I'll start at the beginning and pick one quarterly "typical" image from that time. Peter Pan and friends (February 2006) ![]() KM5D + Min 18-70 kit We took the kids to "Disney on Ice" and I took my new camera with me to see how it would work, this is iso 3200 and 1/30th handheld at 90 mm FF equivalent. It's not a great image by any means but so much more (and better) than what I had ever done with film before that. I still want to show it here as an archive dig from the very beginning. yeah, since 2005 (my Dynax 7D arrival time) I've got 16yr x 12m = 192 folders (I guess).
I've had months where I haven't shot a single frame though. Quarterly would be 64x time spaces ... an interesting take on the 50 archive project. I might stick with 2005/6/7 though (my A mount days). Breaking my archive mountain into 192 pieces is the only way I can start it! |

Week 1 - Topic 3 (dig in the archive)
View from the Atomium in Brussels, looking towards one of the Heizel exhibition halls (May 2006) ![]() KM5D + Tamron 28-200 XR I tried at the time to find a centered window to get the sphere below better centered but alas there wasn't one. And my photoshop skills are lacking to undertake a software move ![]() |

This will be another interesting one - especially with the new techniques coming in. I can't believe you are ready for Week 2 shots already! I especially like the Peter Pan shot

Well, I still need to do my Topic 1 for this week and with the other two it's amazing how much you can do on a damp/drizzly day inside during a COVID "semi-lockdown" that we have in Belgium at the moment. Not as severe as the UK, but still limiting, especially when following the advice to avoid crowds and stay inside when there is no real need to go out.
Only thing to say is that for day prime this week I have a very high need to go out ![]() |

Week 2 - Topic 1 (day or month prime shot)
Another one from the Mastenbos ![]() A7ii + Minolta MC Rokkor 17/4 Specifically composed to 7,11 x 3 at the upper edge of my viewfinder in order to keep the camera horizontal and avoid having to use keystone correction to straighten the trees at the edges of the frame. So it's probably about a 6 mm "poor man's" shift that way |

The Disney on ice shot is it a new processed or is it the old from 2006? |

Thanks Manfred, It's newly processed. The requirement for the archive shots for topic 3 is that they must not have been posted before and this usually means they're processed for the first time.

Makes sense.
I lost most my old edits in LR due to cracked hard drives. Think I have some old catalogs laying somewhere, bu I don’t bother trying to get that to work. |
