Definitely like the black and white reader shot there @Pegelli.

Lots of detail with the main subject and a nicely defocused background to make the reader standout.

That Nex and Zuiko 85 must have been a very discrete package to shot with.

The beer boxes still look fine to me, I guess Covid or SARS-CoV-2 have replaced the early association with Corona.

Thanks for the comments Wētāpunga and Maffe, it's amazing what you have overlooked in the past when trawling through old photos. I think this one is another clear example of that.

Week 36 - Topic 1 (day or month prime)

Ca-Va-Seul mural

A7ii + LA-EA4 + Kenko 1.4x teleplus pro 300 + Sigma 180/3.5 telemacro

There's actually a nice story here. This mural was probably put on there in the early 1950's but within a few years covered by an extra asbestos insulation layer. Since this layer was falling apart it was removed a couple of years ago and this mural came back almost unharmed.

The shoe cream factory doesn't exist anymore, it thrived while it was the sole supplier of shoe cream to the Belgian army but went belly-up when the army reduced in size and around the same time big supplies had to be ordered by a competitive bidding process.

Hi Howard, it probably refers to the "Ricineolie" that was used in the shoe-cream. Here's a website with a lot more detail, it's in Dutch but that's probably not a problem for you.

Many thanks. My (Dutch) wife had not heard the word before. Google translates it as ‘rises’, so the slogan might be ‘Make your shoes stand out with …’.

You've got some unusual scenes and images there @pegelli.

From Week 36, I really like the shoe polish and living "trompe-l'oeil" scenes. I assume this was not a common scene in Finland! . The shoe polish mural has a great back story, especially with the 'unusual' preservation method.

From Week 37, the snow in the Ardennes impresses me. I think the panoramic view makes it a far more striking image. And the figure by the fence line gives it a proper sense of scale.
