I wish had kept my Maxxum 5D. It's rare that I sell gear but I think I sold it to someone here on Dyxum. Can't remember. I think my brother has an A100 and an A58, neither used that much. I should borrow them, shoot them for one of my Photo 150 weeks.

I have an A55, but the thumbpad on the back is very flaky. On the other hand, my NEX-3, similar vintage as the A55, is still going strong. I'll be using that when I shoot my fisheye during Week 10 since it is 10mm (16mm E-mount pancake lens with Sony fisheye adapter). Mirrorless designs are just more durable, IMHO.

Keep up that energy shooting each week, and continue to have fun digging into the archives!

Week 7 - Macro from the archive

The Snare

Shot with a700 and Tamron 90mm macro, at 1/200 and f16 (manual mode)
I used the Sony twin macro flash here in manual mode, with one head directed at background (so it wouldn't darken) and one at the spider. To prevent the silver opithosoma (abdomen) blowing out I dialed back the expore bias by 1/2 an EV.

This is an uncropped pic fwiw.

Week 8 - Macro from the archive

Hexatheles hochstetteri

From 2012- a700 with Tamron 90/2.8, 1/200s at f16 and flash.

These nocturnal spiders live deep in their tunnels during the day, and venture out at night to rest their feet on the multiple warning threads close to their ambush site.

The Snare is a beauty and so is the Hexatheles hochstetteri, but the latter is much more threatening and scary, great shot!
You can see the April Foolishness 2021 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

Ngā mihi- yes, the Hexathelid is much more intmidating, but oddly, that shot of the Leucagid in its web took several years of effort to get a shot I liked.

The threads are light and move in the slightest breeze, and hitting any of the multiple warning threads just sends the spider straight into hiding. The fine drizzle that morning though left some appealing pear-like droplets in the web.

Week 8 'Creative"

Not so much a photo but more to do with video.

I've hooked my a7Riii up with an Elegato 4k capture device to record my lectures on Zoom.
