Week 39

Still in lockdown so unable to leave neighbourhood. So for this week, I've tried something creative, developed some older images that have been languishing, and revisited some other photos.

#1 Orchid Macro Photo (2015)

Converted it in C1 rather than LR. Used an a900 and Minolta 100/2.8 Macro for this, at f11.

#2 Something creative - A collage of waterfalls from the Waitakere Ranges

#3 Hunua Waterfall with a bit more editing

a7R with Minolta 17-35G at 22mm, 30s shot at f16, ISO200

We are now in Week 40 (started 4 Oct) and this week, have been allowed to visit beaches etc for recreation, so hopefully will get some new shots this weekend.

a7riii- Voigtländer 15/4.5, 110/2.5 M; Zeiss Loxia 21/2.8, 35/2, 50/2, 85/2.4, Batis 85/1.8, 135/2.8; Sony 24-105/4 G; Sigma 70/2.8 M; Tamron 150-500 f5-6.7

Week 40

This time I headed out to Muriwai to get some more (I hoped) interesting shots. I was also the first time I had the chance to take my replacement car out for a drive on country roads.

#1 Takapu Colony (creative elements- low key, long exposure, black and white)

a7Riii with Voigtlander 15/4.5, 3.2s at f11 and ISO 50.

#2 Maukatia Bay 1

As above, but 2s

#3 MAukatia Bay 2

As above, but 3.2 s

And the bonus shot. There was a unpleasant splat sound as gannet guano hit the camera at high speed. And yes, it did get into the dials and buttons.

a7riii- Voigtländer 15/4.5, 110/2.5 M; Zeiss Loxia 21/2.8, 35/2, 50/2, 85/2.4, Batis 85/1.8, 135/2.8; Sony 24-105/4 G; Sigma 70/2.8 M; Tamron 150-500 f5-6.7

Ooch, that's a big hit. Hope you got it cleaned allright. On the other hand the photos and the B&W conversions might be worth it (if your camera came out OK after cleaning). I like them all, only straightening the horizon in the second will improve it I think.
You can see the April Foolishness 2021 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

Thanks- yeah, I cut the session short to clean the camera. I think the seals are probably pretty reliable against plain water, but the chemical brew in gannet guano was more worrying.

I cleaned and flushed all the dials and buttons that were hit with Iso-Propyl Alcohol, then when it had dried out, added a drop of silicon oil to them, in case the alcohol had 'dried' out the seals.

Playing around in the (replacement) car, with the a7Riii, Sigma 70/2.8 at f9, Joby gorilla-pod, 10s timer and exposures of about 2s at ISO100

#1

#2

#3

It has the classic VW GTI red stitching and Tartan seats.

To finish off, a view of the exterior. It's a great car to take out on our rural, winding roads.

Week 42

A busy week and a fairly wet weekend spoiled some of my photo plans. But it was a chance to try a few things anyway.

#1 Something creative- Head phones

a7Riii with Voigtlander 110/2 macro, at f8, pixel-shift mode. Camera on tripod with 10s delay, fired with wired remote.

#2 Got to catch them all

Alien's favourite YouTube channel. Photographed with a7Riii and Zeiss Batis 135/2.8, at f2.8, on silent mode so as not to distract him.

#3 The fur feels wrong!

Alien also enjoys nature programs. Photographed as above.
a7riii- Voigtländer 15/4.5, 110/2.5 M; Zeiss Loxia 21/2.8, 35/2, 50/2, 85/2.4, Batis 85/1.8, 135/2.8; Sony 24-105/4 G; Sigma 70/2.8 M; Tamron 150-500 f5-6.7
