Pegelli, once again thank you for your comments. I had a very tough time getting people pictures in the light available. I like the interaction between mother & daughter too and am happy with this photo - and happy to have passed!

Here's my first attempt. Cooking goose for xmas dinner. I would normally take these kind of photos with a 50mm at a safe distance. So I decided to take with my widest lens (17mm on full frame) at MFD (manual focus), so the front element was a couple of inches away from the goose bone. The heat from the fan oven was blowing in my face, felt like I was in a sauna. Not sure if it was great for my camera/lens to be inside the oven, but it was only for a few seconds and hey it's a cheap lens :)
By the way, here's the safe 50mm for comparison (before I thought of getting closer). Cheers Phil |

Novel idea Phil, and definitely worthy of a pass.
Now you can stop sticking your head in the oven. ![]() |

Phil - I like this a lot. Not only do you get closer as per the assignment, but you also create a new and interesting look of a everyday (well, at least fairly commonplace) item.
Well done (both the photo and the bird). Peter |

Ha, Ha, a worthy pass I would say. Your 'getting closer' shot is so much more interesting than the 50 mm 'safe' shot so a clear example how the assignments create more interesting perspectives.
Looking forward to more of your assignment contributions. |

Thanks for the kind comments! These assignments are fun and definitely feel my photography is improving. I haven't got any ideas for 'High Key' yet, so I will do more thinking/reading/research before I attempt that one!
