I was surprised not to find this subject in the Themes Index - though I did find a DPC with some very fine images and a fine definition of the subject matter.

The theme is about the public transport itself (trams, buses, trains, etc.) but also about people on public transport: passengers, workers and such.[/]

If a theme already exists then (admin) feel free to add this to the end (and put it in the index).

On the bus.

Well, we have the railway (trams, trains), automotive (busses), people at work (workers) threads. We even have a railwaystation thread (useless, stations are part of the railways....) For passengers there is the people thread. So, I feel there never was a need for a thread like this, but it makes sense.

I still can't find any themed view thread on busses (automotive or not) or trams - perhaps it's just my incompetence?

But I take the point regarding trains and railway stations - perhaps this should be Busses & Trams rather than all public transport?

On another bus.

Tramways are railways and therefore trams fit in the railways thread.
Busses are automotive and fit in the anything automotive thread.
AFAIK there are no dedicated threads indeed.

I guess a schoolbus is public transport (? I don't have a clue how school busses work, we do not have them. Most students go to school by bike over here. But I felt it fits here)

I was considering starting a "Trams and Trolleybuses" theme after my visit to the East Anglia Transport Museum, but this theme would fit if it encompasses preserved public transport.

Old buses and trams would fit in well - go for it.

Let's show another type of public transportation:

M/S Tor is one of the ferries that shuttle between Market Square and Suomenlinna in Helsinki

(Actually on the right side of the picture you can see partially also another ferry on the route: M/S Suokki (formerly M/S Suomenlinna-Sveaborg), the third and the main vessel of the route would been the newest of these: M/S Suomenlinna)

A preserved bus at the East Anglia Transport Museum.

And lots of trolleybuses. Clean and quiet, so it's a pity the British systems had all closed down by 1972.

Date built and operator from left to right
1936 London Transport
1956 Aston-under-Lyne Corporation
1953 Maidstone Corporation
1951 Portsmouth Corporation

1959 Bournemouth Corporation (system closed down only ten years later)
