I like Matthew's pic, but I think Joanne's one needs more dof (is it front focused?). The light is a little too harsh on that one as well.

John, one of the problems (from my point of view of course) with that shot is her hair. Some of it is in sharp focus and draws my attention to it rather than the eyes. Get her to tie it up OR (the complete opposite) have her hair fall in front of her eyes.
