Here's one of the newer ones: Rail Feeding 561-03 but when I was working in the area I saw several more, and of older vintage than this example.

I'm just "a" administrator, without the help from the others the site wouldn't survive. What MiPr did today to restore the site I would not have been able to do

And I'm also a big steam train fan (and used to be fireman/driver of them), my other passion besides photography. I think that helped more in seeing the connection between your shots.

Wow! now I'm really impressed. I didn't know you were a train driver, fireman
well I hope you can someday come back out here and we can see one of the Big Boys in person, maybe Kelly too
If you have Trains in your bones You may really like seeing one or 2 of them
There is even in the vicinity the only Cab Forward articulated, which is almost as massive. That would be nice

and you are right. Thank Goodness for MiPr who keeps this great forum going

Speaking of operating a steam engine, I watched this video recently on YouTube and I highly recommend watching it to all that love steam locomotives. It should be very interesting to you Pieter since you have operated a steam engine. I know there will be many differences between this one, Engine 473 of the Durango and Silverton RR in Colorado.   This video is great because for one thing there is no annoying banjo or fiddle music drowning out the sounds of the locomotive and no voice narration, only occasional sub tittles.

Behind the Scenes on a Steam Engine

Kind regards,

Kelly

Thanks Kelly, interesting video and very nice to watch.

Since we don't have a tramway thread and trams run on rails here's a shot from the old center of Antwerp, where the trams still run through the narrow cobblestone streets

Here's a snap from a recent trip to the Yucatán peninsula. Stretching the boundaries of railroad photography with this one! Hope you like it.

It does say railway, not trains, so trams belong just fine here.

Not at all. In fact, where others photograph trains and trams, your picture shows the railway in all its glory

Black Five # 45407 "The Lancashire Fusilier" pulling the afternoon Jacobite back to Fort William on the bank just after the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

Unfortunately the weather was too warm and dry for a nice plume of steam, but judging by the sound the engine was working pretty hard to pull up the 7 carriages up the bank

Thanks Joseph

@ Mathieu, I like how the tele compression makes the track look even worse than it actually is. Great capture

Magicman;
Its taken a while to get used to your new style, but I'm beginning to and I really like your last photo here. This one, in the weekly gallery👍
