For those who may have seen my open views "Seligman" post, this is the railroad part extension of that trip I came across a new steam engine that the Grand Canyon RR had put on exhibit in downtown Williams, Arizona. Its one I had never seen before or heard of. Its not 539 I posted in 2018 or Pegelli's great photo here engine # 18.I've checked their website but don't even mention the steam engines, but here it is. Its a pretty impressive engine but they have its back facing the public🤷♂️ 1 ![]() 2 ![]() 3 ![]() 4 ![]() 5 ![]() 6 ![]() Then I got to Kingman Arizona a bigger crossroads city and they had a Locomotive Park in the downtown, w 1 locomotive in an open park. A pretty historic engine. A 484 "Northern" The Last steam engine to travel to Kingman It ran the Railway Club of Southern California's "Farewell to Steam " special excursion run and then was donated to Kingman by the Santa Fe RR Its in the middle of a small park where one can climb on it and it looks un vandalized or amazingly graffitied I took some liberties w pp 7 ![]() 8 ![]() 9 ![]() 10 ![]() 11 ![]() 12 the Fire box ![]() 13 I liked this ![]() 14 ![]() I really enjoyed coming across these 2 steamers ![]() |

Pieter this is a very nice video got last week from the Union Pacific Steam Club, that I'm a member https://youtu.be/Tw50srOCai0 "We know you miss seeing our steam locomotives as much as the UP Steam Team misses operating No. 844 and Big Boy No. 4014 across the Union Pacific system. To help us stay connected, the Steam Team has put together a "virtual tour" video of the Steam Shop in Cheyenne, and Steam Club members get the first look! Watch it here!" They have also sent me an email stating: They are committed to operating in 2021 This is to keep encouraging you on the trip here. If the stars line up and all the timing works out, it is possible to see in Cheyenne 2 Big Boys at the same time and just down the road (in western terms) there is another one in Denver. ![]() Hope you enjoy the video as much as I did and everyone else too Ohh and BTW We have long long trains out here ![]() Edited by Coast - 07 September 2020 at 07:14 |

Beautiful photos Joe and Jack.
Joe, I think they did a photo exertion with 4960 recently. I'd love to do a Grand Canyon Winter photo excursion one of these days. Also the mini Dyxum Train Fest sounds fine to me! ![]() Jack, I've not been to Steam Town though I've seen photos. Is that the Big Boy that they have there? Regards, Kelly |

Kelly, so happy you're in. You're "The Man"! I hope w the plan
![]() Anyway you 2 think is best is fine w me ![]() 4960 on a photo excursion sounds interesting. I wonder where they went because on the trip to the GC there isn't anything interesting to take a picture of. Its just a flat high desert, unless they did photo ops w the engine? Makes me wonder how many steam engines they have. I know the Santa Fe wanted that Kingman engine to eventually become a GC engine. Only Kingman wouldn't let it go. I talked to a shop guy and he said they do shop tours, but now w covid its been put on hold. When they do them I want to go. I'll go to any shop tour ![]() "mini Dyxum Train Fest sounds fine to me"! ______me 2 ![]() |

The Welsh Highland Railway's Garrett 87 passes Bontnewydd with the 11:00 from Caernarfon, running only as far as Beddgelert because of the Covid restrictions.
![]() A few miles down the line, newly restored 130 was on display at Dinas. I also photographed it without the enginemen but their presence emphasises the size of these narrow gauge locomotives. ![]() |

Thank you for your comment, Kelly. Yes, they have Big Boy there. Below Big Boy in Steam Town, Scranton, PA taken with my Canon 5D before I have switched to Sony: ![]() |

Lee,
That's a great sepia rendered replica of an antique glass plate photo that could have been taken when that locomotive was state of the art in rail travel. |
