Thanks, Howard!
We only had to hike around in that immediate area, up the slopes beside the rails. The train transported up there, so we cheated a bit!

Hello Kelly
fascinating picture. I wish people knew what the picture actually entailed. The time of the year quite evident and then the place you had to go to get it. You put the 2 of them together and the sum total is an amazing picture by a very dedicated rail roader 👏🏻

thanks for sharing_______Joseph

Thanks, Ivo!

I know its been very hot over there and you might need a little snow to cool off! Of course this photo was taken in February in Nevada. Its about 28 C there right now.

Kind regards,

Kelly

Nice one. Maybe B&W effect might work as well?

Hello Kelly,
another great classic
Like I stated, if people only knew what it takes to get a photo of a Nevada Northern steamer like this in the middle of winter, they probably would be amazed

I worked up a couple more Big Boys, (I still have a ton to do). I just have way too many projects going on at once
These are for the real hardcore rail people, I suspect

the Monster

When the "Monster" blew its pistons, it was loud, Really loud!
this was absolutely a thrill of a lifetime!

Thank you, Sashi!

Indeed, B&W might work. There is not a lot of color in the photo, though I do like the subtle tones of the rock and sagebrush which is why I didn't do a B&W conversion.

Kind regards,

Kelly

Thank you, Joe! Really appreciate your kind words! I have a ton of photos from my three days there, some of which I will share here, though it may seem odd to some posting winter photos in the heat of summer. They are getting roasted in Europe. Been cool here, until now. Should hit 99 F (37.2 C) today.

Also, great shots of 4014! I can only imagine the sound it made getting underway, plus you had 844 chiming in, which normally would have been a treat in itself! Very nice work! Were you using the Zeiss zoom for these? They do seem to have the Zeiss rendering. BTW Big Boy is in Nebraska now.

Did you see that Trains Magazine is having a Grand Canyon photo excursion?

Kind regards,

Kelly
