Oregon Short Lines 1068. The Oregon Short Lines was a division of the Union Pacific and this locomotive was later designated as Union Pacific 618 and now belongs to the Heber Valley Railroad. Sept. 2007

Semaphore Heber Valley Railroad, Heber, Utah. I don't know if this semaphore is original to this railroad. It was installed here after 2010 and looks to have been restored. It is the only example I've personally seen in the western USA

Inside Big Boy 4005 Denver Colorado Coast 1 of only 2 of this type "2 6 6 2" mallet engines in existence. I have pictures of the other one if I can ever find it. It's in Flagstaff Arizona. Its one of the cutest engines I've ever seen Black Hills Central RR, Steam Locomotive #110 They run an excursion trip thru the Black Hills called "Ales & Rails" Rapid City, South Dakota Cannibalized and Abandoned in Williams, Arizona 1990 by: /photos /purple-bullet /Coast |

Hoping to have something to share in a couple of weeks on this thread. On a whim I have booked a three day first class trip on the Midland Pullman Train on their West Highland Pullman tour.
Day 1 travel from my home town to Fort William with overnight in hotel, Day 2 to Mallaig on the west coast and return to Fort William. Day 3 return south where my wife and golden retrievers will be waiting to pick me up. Hoping this will lift me out of my current photography drought and that my (never used) glass anti-flection rubber lens hood will allow me some shots out of the train windows. Plan/hope is to catch a shot of the inner curve as we cross the Glenfinnan "Harry Potter" viaduct for this thread. Watch this space! Found it,
the only other 2662 of its kind mallet in existence. Both were unique logging engines. This was in a little Western museum on the outskirts of Flagstaff, Az, hence the picture. But has since been moved to the original & active Flagstaff Train Depot, of an original cross country train line, next the original Route 66 Hwy. Still in immaculate condition, inside and out.🚂 Coast |
