Thanks, Peter,

Yes Black and White is always good! So many great photos here. I've had so little time lately for commenting and posting. I love that bridge, you really have great railroad photo ops in your "neck of the woods"! So many different roads!

Yes, as far as I know the Union Pacific is the only North American railroad with mainline steam. Of course they are not in regular service, rather more the pride of the UP and for PR! But 844 is underway most of the year on all of the UPs main lines -- pretty much everywhere that the UP goes, the 844 goes. In this photo, this is the main East West trackage. In fact it is the route of the original transcontinental railroad. Here is a partial schedule:

Regards,

Kelly

Yes indeed! Very impressive photo, Mathieu! I applaud your dedication. The Great White North is beautiful indeed. You must be directly north of me! Looks like part of the Rocky Mountain Range. CP also a clue. I don't know where Gap Lake is. I see you previous photo of the Calgary Skyline -- another very nice photo and clue! A long way from any oil car mishaps!

"Near the small town of Justice, Manitoba" is one of the nicest photos I've seen posted here for a while! keep of the great work.

Regards,

Kelly

Thanks Kelly. That is indeed the Rockies, west of Calgary, AB, where I just moved a few weeks ago. The Manitoba photo was taken on the drive here. 6 days, 4200 KM, do the math.

Here's more Rockies goodness:

Congratulations, Mathieu! You are in "Railway Heaven" in your new home! Some of the most spectacular railway country on the continent! You are also not too far from Sandpoint Idaho and Kalispell Montanta -- I understand they are great train hotspots! Also I notice calgary is 883 miles from Salt Lake City!

Regards,

Kelly
