Alan,

Love the Welsh mountain country side scenic! Looks like quite an unusual locomotive!

And Happy Birthday and keep those beautiful Welsh railroad photos coming!

Regards,

Kelly

UP 7487 Westbound down Echo Canyon. Yesterday I deiced to hike up Echo Canyon a mile or so when I encountered this double-stack. Caught me unprepared, but I was able to capture a couple shots. Afterwards, viewing this shot, I thought perhaps someone had vandalized this locomotive with a bucket of white paint. Imagine my surprise viewing the downloaded images on my computer and discovering that it is in fact, snow and ice!

HVRR BLH RS-4-TC-1 #4028.   With Mount Timpanogos as a splendid backdrop, HVRR #4028 prepares to depart the Heber City Depot.

Machts Nichts Sticks? No, its a Semaphore. A relic of North American railroading's past! It the distance you can make out the headlight of HVRR #4028.

Thanks, Mathieu! Nice work! Great to see that you are still out shooting. Its been cold there, with a lot of snow, right? With the exception of a couple days here and there (including today) its been unseasonably warm here. So things are greening up early.
Keep those great train photos coming!

Snow's been pretty average this year, I would say. It's almost all gone. It's been pissing all week so...

UP 7763. This was taken an hour or two earlier than my previously posted photo. The sky was totally overcast. I only had 3 trains pass me, which is not much traffic for the overland route. For each train I used a different lens just to see how they rendered the scene.

UP 5321. This is actually two helper engines on the back of coal train UP 7725 taken with the Minolta 24-50 and CPL -- quite a different look than the KM @28 with no CPL of course the light and clouds had changed as well. While I was waiting for trains, there were many little ground squirrels running about playfully -- fun to watch. Crazy little guys! Of course not as crazy as the train nut with the camera!
