Saturday at the Llangollen Railway's "Along Branch Lines" gala. Many preserved railway galas feature a visiting star locomotive to draw the crowds, this one consisted of small locomotives hauling short trains which would have been employed on this rural branch line when it was part of the national network.
The ten mile section from Corwen to Llangollen was originally part of a long branch from the England/Wales border to the west coast of Wales, it was closed as part of the extensive 1960s Beeching cuts. 1. GWR 2-8-0 heavy freight locomotive 3802 approaches Berwyn station. 2. The auto train at Carrog. This type of train was devised to make short branch line operation more economical, removing the need for the locomotive to run round its train at the termini. It could be driven from either end while the fireman stoked the locomotive. This branch would have been too long for this type of operation. 3. Guard on the auto train. 4. We had a ride in the Observation Car which confers a great view down the track. 5. View from the Observation Car at Carrog station. 6. Visiting "Jinty" 47406 from the Great Central Railway approaches Berwyn station. 7. Late afternoon at Llangollen. |

Mathieu, nice scenery in those last two shots (and nice trains of course )
Last Sunday I made another visit to the Museum Buurtspoorweg in the eastern part of the Netherlands. I was a volunteer maintenance engineer, fireman and driver there until we moved too far away in 1992. I still try to visit sometimes. I wish I lived closer so could take up some duties there but a 3 hour drive one way is just too far. Here's a few B&W's I took during this last visit. 1: NS 7853 Leaving the depot 2: A happy driver overseeing taking in fresh water 3: Pre departure chat with the Station Master All A6000 + MD Rokkor-X 45/2 Edited by pegelli - 22 September 2015 at 12:37 |

Afraid not. It comes up as not permitted, even though I have a google login myself. It just seems Google doesn't want to share! I switched to Joomeo and that works fine for me. Still free, still allows albums, but it makes it clear when you ask for a public link, and it offers you all three link formats you can use here. Send me a private message if you need any help! |
