Great set Alan, Wales (and the Ffestiniog) just went up another couple of notches on my "need to go there" list.

Thanks Fred and Pieter. The Victorian Weekend is a good one to attend, particularly if you have a partner with only a passing interest in the trains.

Here are some more from last weekend's gala.

The skip train passes Boston Lodge Halt, doubled headed by Chuquitanta and Diana. Chuquitanta was built by Couillet, a Belgian locomotive manufacturer, in 1885 to 500mm gauge for the French pioneer of lightweight industrial railways, Decauville. The engine was sold as that company’s No.36, making this one of the oldest surviving Decauvilles in the world. It was supplied to Enrique Ayulo & Cie (Decauville’s agent in Peru) for the Rodriguez sugar cane plantation. The loco was named ‘Chuquitanta’ due to its small size and weight of only 3.5 tonnes. The locomotive was discovered while on static display inside a restaurant which had been built on the site of the sugar cane plant. It was brought to the UK from Peru for full restoration in 2004 and returned to steam in 2016. ‘Chuquitanta’ is now based on the Richmond Light Railway in Kent. Diana has an impressively Welsh CV, having served the Kerry Tramway in mid-Wales, the Oakley Slate Quarries in Blaenau Ffestiniog and the Pen yr Orsedd Slate Quarry.

Ryam Sugar Company No 1 and single Fairlie "Taliesin" at Boston Lodge.

Ryam Sugar Company No 1 was imported from India in 2013 and restored at the Statfold Barn Railway in Staffordshire. It is seen here entering Boston Lodge.

Linda at Porthmadog station.

Palmerston at Boston Lodge Halt

The Steamplex is a 1937 Simplex diesel locomotive that has had a single cylinder steam engine and a boiler from a steam launch fitted. It is kept at the Groudle Glen Railway on the Isle of Man.

"The Goose" stands next to "Vale of Ffestiniog", This locomotive is a 335 HP turbo-charged B-B diesel-hydraulic built by CH Funkey & Co (Pty) Ltd of Alberton, near Johannesburg, South Africa, for a diamond mine in Namibia. It arrived at the Ffestiniog in 1993.

A last series from my train trips in Germany late last month.

1: A local entering the Remagen station, with the beautiful Appolinaris church in the background

2: A long container train (152 axles) passing through the Bonn-Bad Godesdorf station

3: An express passenger train passing through the Bonn-Bad Godesdorf station

4: Local train arriving in Köln Central Station from the Hohenzollern bridge

5: The same train, a little further

Seen passing through the Somerset countryside near Puriton, Royal Scot was built in 1927 and was the flagship locomotive of the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company (LMS), operating the fastest services on the West Coast from London to Manchester and Glasgow. After a five year overhaul she returned to steam on the mainline in 2016.

This rather long cargo train carrying wood (to UPM Kymmene's Kuusanniemi paper mill?) was not my ride from Kouvola to Helsinki few days ago despite that it used the same track.
