I like that shot! I've been to Shanghai a few times but always on business and I never shot a sunset there. You seem to be shooting from high up in a hotel and although that's highly likely to be pollution as much as atmospheric haze; it looks great and gives the shot depth.

You post quite a few shots from China: did you live there or travel for work?

Thanks, I travelled a lot there for my work until I retired. This one was indeed taken from a high-rise across the street, either from my hotel window or the lobby of the JW Marriott on Tomorrow Square that time. Atmospheric haze was always present, no blue sky most of the days

Yep, even 2,000km West in Lanzhou (where I lived in 1998) where there isn't much development left to the West to blow over the city; the smog was still awful in Winter. Summer was OK because the heat of the Gobi lifted the haze and allowed the wind to take it away across the blocked end of the Hezou Corridoor. In Winter however, the cold (as low as minus 25 celsius), kept the smog low and often, you couldn't see the other bank of Hunag He (Yellow River).
