Until quite recently I have not had a TV. I was using my computer to play random slideshow containing photos from a folder with selection of my best shots organised in different folders by location. Irfanview was able to randomise the slideshows taking in all the photos from all of those folders.
I was naive enough to believe that someone already implemented such option for a TV with inserted USB stick. Well, Samsung can't do that.
I have bought Google Chromecast (version 4) for a TV, but again, I was unable to find any app paid or not, to do just that - play randomised slideshow, full screen from several folders.

Do you know any such app or way to do that while not going the Google Photos way? That is not an option for me as I don't intend to go on the paid plan from Google and I would have to do that due to the amount of space those photos take.

Do you have an Adobe account? You can sign into Adobe Lightroom for the Web in Google Chrome (lightroom.adobe.com) and cast a slide show from there to Chromecast. You have to do this from an album as far as I can see (click the three dots ... on the right side of the header for an album) to access the slide show functionality.

If you don't have an Adobe subscription perhaps there is some other web software you can use from Chrome, but whether it is secure to let software rummage through you hard drive for pictures to show, I don't know.

Unfortunately Lightroom itself doesn't connect with Chromecast, but I believe it has some Apple TV functionality, but that's not much help in your case.

Thank you, unfortunately no Adobe license.
I may need to look at casting more, but so far the built in functionality of gallery on the phone prioritises speed over quality and the result are rather mediocre. And that app doesn't have the functionality required anyway. But maybe some other Android based app would? I could then use micro SD storage on the phone to store pictures.

I also forgot to mention that I want to utilise that 4K resolution of my TV. It would be best to have those pictures hooked directly to the TV.

Can you not get Google Photos to play a slide show from the micro sd card in the phone? You’re not using the cloud, which is what Google charges for.

There are apps like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.galleryconnect.ads&hl=en&gl=US&pli=1, but it has some limitations.

Google Photos for the functionality I need required photos to be stored online in specific albums which then I can add or not to a slide show. There is no option to use SD. Actually google photos in this configuration is only used as hosting site.

Thank you for the link, I read some reviews and unfortunately those are rather bad. Doesn't look like something that works.
I was doing my own research before and failed to find anything that would resemble irfanview in its functionality.
