They are really a shy species but as all serpents get a bad reputation. Been up close countless times over the years but never had one respond to me in anything but a defensive manner. Today's one took one look at me and promptly did a 180 and found a spot it felt safe in. |

Baby gators with mom. I counted sixteen total. Hatched one week ago. They will stay with the mother for a year but only one or two lucky ones will probably survive.

Most likely it is a Black Racer. They are good at catching rats. Harmless to you.
