I recently had my Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 EX Aspherical lens go belly up. Auto focusing sounded like a cement mixer. In manual focus, there are several "catches" and focusing is inaccurate. I sent it to Sigma in New York for repair. They tell me that it is beyond is "service lifetime" and they cannot fix it.
They are offering to sell me a Sigma 24-105mm f4 art lens for $554.
I have read the 4 lens reviews here which are very positive.
I am using an A99. I already have a Min 28-135mm f4-4.5 and a Min 24-105mm f3.5-4.5.

This is a temping offer as the new price for this lens is $779.

I would appreciate any comments to help me make up my mind. The price is doable but is not insignificant.

Thanks.

No brainer!

(and sell your Minolta for a decent price)
Quit a lot of ALPHA gear, a nice collection of Sigma lenses, Dynax and M42 stuff, NEX i.c.w. Sigma's, Gitzo's, Visico's and lots of video-equipment

For the A99 it's the perfect lens, it's my walkaround lens for the A99M2. IQ is much better than the Mino/Sony 24-105mm. But it's also bulkier and heavier. But it covers quite a focal length and comes close to the quality of primes.

For that price it should be a deal!

Nothing else to say.
This lens is awarded by everyone that owns it.

I'm sure it's not much bulkier or cumbersome than the mino 28-135. Surely it's better IQwise

This lens has OS on A-mount? It is giving more stops?

OS function is not incorporated for Sony cameras. It does however have HSM auto focus. The min f stop is 22. The same as most lenses.

I pulled the trigger on this offer. After I learn the lens I will add my review.
Thanks again to everyone that responded.
