Just very quickly… shot on a7r with metabones adapter Here are two jpegs from this combination, a quick shot of a rainbow as a very rough and ready look to see what its like. Hand held, I think f8 or 11… one is a jpeg straight from cam, the second is after simple treatment with corner fix and no other editing.. 1. strangely I like it before corner fix, I think it has potential for a type of stylised photography

Personally I think its perfectly usable… the size of the overall package is very small. Once you set up your profile shot and correction profile in cornerfix (which is very quick and easy), the processing is very quick and easy, corner fix is also free…
The colour shift and vignetting could well be used to good artistic effect. Its not perfect by any means, but then again its a pretty cheap lens. At 15mm I think you're going to get a bit of shenanigans going on in the edges and corners no matter what and you can work around them fairly easily… One of the main reasons for me going with the a7r and a manual set up with this type of lens was the small size… what you can get from such a small package is just incredible really and I can't wait to really get cracking with the kit on some proper shots soon! |

Samples: VOIGTLANDER 15mm f4.5 SUPER WIDE HELLIAR Version III (a new retrofocus design which is supposed to give better corner performance)
mount: Leica M format: FF year: current max aperture: f4.5 min aperture: f22 elements/group: 11 in 9 groups aperture blades: 10 min focus distance (mm): 0.5mm filter diameter (mm): 58 mm length (mm): 55 mm weight (g): 247g It's a retrofocus design that is bigger and heavier vs. v1 (LTM) and v2 (M-mount) Here's my test on an A7ii (via a Hawk helicoid adapter) No LR lens profile used: ![]() With LR lens profile, vignetting @ 50% (default = 100 is too much) ![]() Conclusion (without profile) Some vignetting still present, but no (purple) colour cast Nice sharp corners (no smearing) Minor amount of barrel distortion And then the LR profile nicely corrects the vignette (since it doesn't know the aperture used you need to adjust manually) and the distortion is well corrected |
