I updated mine last night , but forget to do try a before and after .
I've not used it on my a6600 yet , but trying it on the NEX 6 and an a3000 it seems more responsive and quicker to lock focus . Don't know if it's any better on the NEX 7 , it's always been fairly pedestrian on that . Also noticed the 18-55mm off my NEX 7 had had a firmware update at some point , so I did that as well . I need to check my other lenses to see if they need updating. |

Yeah, I also forgot to test out response before I upgraded ... so I am not sure.

Possibly more improvements with some bodies rather than others .
Still , I'm surprised they've done a FW update considering how long ago it was released . |

Start up and shut down is considerably faster on my Nex 6. There was quite a lag for the lens to retract before. Sony sure is a strange company. I never would have expected them to provide an update for such an old lens when they used to seem to ignore camera issues. Maybe they're starting to like us!

Ah, that sounds worthwhile. I'll have to try that. Edit: Updated the lens firmware and hey presto! usefully quicker open and close process. Thanks for the tip! Edited by Miranda F - 22 February 2023 at 18:12 |
