Hi Everyone,

Something of a slight departure here. We were given a Brewery Tour as a Christmas present last year and decided it was about time we booked it up. It was for the Shepherd Neame Brewery in nearby Faversham (where our eldest lives) and the Brewery is famous as still being a family owned independent which can trace it's history on the site back to at least 1668 (after which a Beer is also named). The tour was well attended but still gave me chance to take some pictures in there:

1. Waste Malt Chutes

2. Maltings Shovels

3. Mash Tun 1A

4. And That's Before the Tastings!

5. A Wider View

6. All Stainless Nowadays

7. Nod to History

Along with another engine (both still perfectly functional) that the Steam Beer is so named

8. Brewery Avenue

9. Coopers Room

10. Delivery Van History

11. Before the Tasting

12. Full Rack

13. After Tasting - My Wife Doesn't Like Stout!

A very enjoyable tour with very knowledgeable guide; not too long or strenuous and plenty of history to go along with the technical stuff as well. Like all breweries now, they also undertake brewing 'on license' for some of the European brands (Oranjeboom for example) but they still pride themselves on an excellent and well thought of range of beers carefully crafted to deliver taste above all else.

Thanks for looking and comments, as always, very welcome.

Best regards, Neil.

A nice virtual tour you've given us, Neil, but we'll just have to imagine the tastings, unfortunately.
My favourite images are #2 the malting shovels, and #12 the backlit ales on the tasting board.

Looks likes you hav a nice present! A nice series with #2 and 12 for me too, with the nice light on the shovels on top of the list. I also like the view in the coopers room. Thanks for taking us with you Neil.
