Just discovered a Ruby-throated Hummingbird nesting in our backyard this morning. These were taken with the a900 and Minolta 600 4 plus 1.4 TC. I used the cheap little flash that came with my 7D and continue to be impressed with it, having ignored it for years.

The Cedar Waxwings are passing through Maine again this year and they love the flowers of our Apple Trees. Hand held of course.

I managed to get off about a dozen shots. This is just one example of the majority.

Love the Hummingbirds

Only time I have seen one in the wild was when I was in Belize in 1988

@800si: Jason, I like the detail on the first three. #1 is my favorite. The light was not working in your favor on the others. Hummers tend to perch in the same spot day after day. Do you have a chance to photograph him from the other side (or at the other end of the day)?

@geardown: That's one cheeky miner! Nice catch, Richard.

@le_rez: Larry, the only way to get this shot in the wild is in a rabbit costume. Were you using the build-in flash?
