That is a cool feeling. I had an exhausted one drop down in my shop, the solid white ceiling was confusing her and she kept trying to fly up through it. And the only place up there she would stop and perch was on a red plastic valve knob. But she did this for about an hour and finally crashed out. I went to the soda machine and bought a Sunkist, scooped her up and let her lap up around the rim of the can. She fed for a couple minutes and I could feel her vibrating in my closed hand, and then I could tell she was wanting to fly so I let her go outside.

Wish I'd had my camera that day. But today I wanted to try something different with this attempt at hummers so I set up the Impact boom arm stand and hung some construction paper up for a sunlit background. The paper was hanging about 3 feet behind the feeders and I had the Metz onboard set on HSS, both TTL and Manual. I also had a Roscoe diffuser sheet banded on the flash. These with the 100-400APO and all cropped in some way. Shutter Priority @ 1/2000s ISO400 f6.7

EDIT: #1 and #2 are the male Rufous hummingbird, with the rest being the female.

@fahfah: Welcome to Dyxum, Lloyd! Hand feeding hummers is a first for me.

@stiuskr: Rob, Is that a Black-Chinned Hummingbird?

@Pat Malone: I like the Gannet.

Here is YAC (yet another catbird).

A Spotted Turtle Dove to match my balustrade!

And YMP's. All with the 70/400G. A very dull day, I seem to get the contrasts better than in bright conditions ?

Cheers. Brandy.
