[Hasten to add that it was a captive bird !]

I captured these yesterday afternoon using my A700 w/ Sigma 50-500mm F4-6.3 APO RF (Bigma). I've had this lens for a few days and I'm really enjoying it. These shots don't compare to the others in this thread, but they are the best I've got so far. :)
"Hey buddy- have you got a spare worm that you're not using?"
"I can trade you this pine cone..."
"Well, hurry up and finish your pictures, then. I've got a worm to find"

Here's one from last year. A closeup of a red-crowned crane (Zhalong Reserve, Heilongjiang province).
I used my macro lens for this shot.

I've never left the macro behind. It's actually quite a versatile lens.
The bird was too close to use a longer prime. I'd like to get back there and put in some serious time with a camera.

Nice one chthoniid! Yeah, my tammie 90/2.8 macro goes wherever I go too. Just wish it would AF faster, (sometimes I have to Point and Shoot) as I sometimes don't have the opportunity to manual focus properly...LOL!!

LTTay, that last one is remarkable. It's almost an xray of the wing bone structure. Very cool.
