Great shots!

Below are some of our pictures from the last summer.

This is from our last visit at an non-profit Zoo/animal shelter in Sweden. The subject pictured was not one of the caged birds but one who dared to get really close to us when we shared our sandwiches with him.

Big Beercan (300mm) + A100.

One of our chickens (they usually walk free during the summer when the probability of an goshawk attack is low)

A100 + Beercan (210mm@f4)

Another one of the chickens, photo taken by my girlfriend using our A100 and the 35-70/4. The red spots on the wing is not blood but paint. We painted our house this summer and the chickens kept us company. Luckily, the paint is non-toxic and is almost gone by now :)...

The tecnical quality of this photo is very bad, but I like the "expression" of the bird, and you can really tell how hard a job it is to be a bird parent.

Okapi, you and Frankman need to scoot over; I want a place too. Those are amazing.

Your basic laughing gull looking for a handout.

Black crowned night heron

Northern shoveler, taking a quick sip.

Reddish egeret; these guys are real characters; maybe a card or two shy of a full deck.

Momech - plenty of room for your lovely images too. I noticed on the EXIF that you used 840mm and manual flash. What was your setup? I'm intrigued.

I meant in the hide ; I'd love to get that close to those little guys.

I'm using the A900, 600/4 with the 1.4 TC, which gives you the 840mm; and a 5600HS flash with a Better Beamer. The flash is set for TTL, but the Better Beamer calls for setting the flash zoom to 50mm, which is why it shows manual flash. I reduce the zoom setting if I'm blowing out too many highlights, but it works pretty well for most situations.
