@al_1751: nice images! The Hooded Merganzer is a beautiful bird. Were you using the Tokina listed in your signature? The head in the male Hooded Merganzer got lost in the dark reflections in the water. There may be some contrast that you could recover. What PP are you using?

Cheers... Brian

Wandering around near my local church the other day there was very little of note around, but then a group of Long-tailed Tits came my way:

First off thank you Brian! I did use the Tokina 100-300 F4 for these photos. The Male Merganser did lose some detail with the background. The sun was alomst directly behind me, so it wasn't an optimum time to shoot really. I use PS Elelments 6 for my editing and did try to recover some of the lost detail with the Merganser. Unfortunately my PS skills aren't up to par as yet, so I decided to post the shot as you see it.

Happy New Year,

AL

All the above were taken c 2 months ago with A200 and Tamron 70-300mm lens at Clumber Park, UK.

And this one taken in Autumn in my back garden. Amazing the difference in colour now!

And this one in my back garden, a starling in its first winter coat.
