rovhazman I'm pretty sure it is a Great Blue. He looks like and old man on guard. We have a lot of them around here but they are very wild so it's a rare occasion when I can get close enough to get a decent shot.

Stan's spice finch looks like he's eating spaghetti

Trumpeter Swan in the wild from today.

A700 SAL70-300G @300mm + Kenko 1.4 And I still had to crop heavily. I need a boat or a much longer lens

Ah....you guys can't imagine how pissed of I am with winter and rain and overcast skies...so finally we got a half-decent day last weekend, here's the result, hope you like, more to follow:

How do you get the birds to stand still long enough to use a tripod? The birds around here barely stand still long enough to permit the use of a monopod

Welcome to Dyxum Dave.

Having a look at the Exif, your shutter speeds seem high enough in #1 and #3, so I suspect you may need to use a bit more USM to sharpen them up. The beercan should be able to be quite crisp even at f4.5. In #2 and #4 I think your shutter speeds were just a stop too low to freeze the birds.
