Not pin sharp but...
First Goosander I've met.... on the River Thames late July.... wouldn't like to get involved with that beak! ![]() KM5D 100-300 apo @180mm/f6.3/500th/iso100 ![]() KM5D 100-300 apo @180mm/f5.6/500th/iso200 Ianb Edited by ianb - 05 August 2009 at 06:39 |

More stunning shots in this thread! The Ausies seem to have the raptor market cornered
![]() @chthoniid: Brilliant color and detail. Here are some recent visitors to the feeder. The goldfinch have a bad habit of coming to the feeder only when it is in the shade. American Goldfinch ![]() Finally, a female has claimed our feeder as her territory. Ruby-throated Hummingbird ![]() A nuthatch queues up for the suet. White-breasted Nuthatch ![]() All with A700+70-300G (exif embedded) Cheers... Brian |

Excellent feeder shots Brian! (shade or not)
IanB great goosander closeups! A similar bird here on West coast of FL is the Red Breasted Mergnaser which winters in the gulf. aa just keep those great shots coming! I am sitting enjoying others photos while watching our summer rain fall. Thanks EK it does look like a good match. Edited by TBMike - 05 August 2009 at 17:53 |

Great clarity Brian and Ianb that Goosander looks sharp enough to me , don't know that the 70/400 you were asking about is going to give you any adavantage except for the zoom, having said that I love it, and having just shot alongside Geardown with his 300 prime it does have it's advantages. For our Wren shots he was way back and it could have been awkward for him to have got a shot at all, whereas I was almost on toop of him. Just out of interest lent him my Kenko 1.4 TC which he thought very slow to auto focus compared to his minolta so don't go that route. Cheers. Brandy. |
