Turnstones taken on the Dutch coast near Belgium with the 80-200 + TC. Birds started of far away but due to the tide coming in and me sitting very still they kept coming closer. At a certain moment I even had to move backwards due to the focus distance of the lens!

Some bird shots from today and yesterday (looks like my camera's focus issue was fixed. The proof:)...
300mm @ f/8; 1/500 @ ISO-100 ![]() 300mm @ f/8; 1/400 @ ISO-100 ![]() 250mm @ f/8; 1/80 @ ISO-100 ![]() 300mm @ f/8; 1/250 @ ISO-200 ![]() All of the above were taken with a Big Beercan - i love the lens (given what i paid for it, i better...), I just wish i could get it focusing on flying birds faster. So many shots i would love, but can't get because the focus is just too slow to get them in time. Oh well, more learning for me (and adapting to manual focus with this lens as well...) I don't use it all that often, but it certainly deserves most of its 4.56 rating -- my own assesment would be more a 4.1 since I judge it against lenses such as the 70-200 APO SSM. The famous donuts don't appear if the lighting is right and there is nothing close behind or in front of the subject that is "messy" (such as branches). You just can't beat it for portability, but it can be slow to focus if you are changing quickly from near to far and it is too slow for most on-the-wing shots unless you get a bit lucky. ![]() |

This I took today with my Dimage A2, but I thought since it's a funny perspective I'd post it anyway...

@ David S Gotta love that first one. @ bracket with shots like that the gear doesn't matter, they are such a delight. |
