This ratty looking grackle kept staring at me through my dining room window yesterday. Looked like bad juju, so I shot him (digitally, of course).

Good shots everyone. The ones hand feeding the baby remind of a time my kids raised an abandoned sparrow. It earned the name "turd bird" for obvious reasons :) Well the hummers will be leaving here in a few days and I finally got a couple of shots that are somewhat presentable. These little birds are tough to shoot and I had to crop these pretty heavily.

Wow, lots of great shots here.
Photoclassic - welcome to Dyxum. Nice photos. I especially liked the Juvenile African Pygmy Kingfisher - beautiful bird and a very nice capture. David_S - The male ruby-throated hummingbird is great - I haven't had much luck with hummers so far. Here is a hawk that came in to our yard to feast on a pigeon. He was nice enough to sit there on a low branch long enough for me to go get my 300/4 and take some photos. He let me get pretty close. Both taken with A100 300mm @ f4 ![]() ![]() |

I also wanted to have another go at hummers before they moved south for the winter, and after shooting all weekend the best shots came during the last shoot.
