A bird story that I happened to photograph (but missed some shots).
So those are Herring Gulls, taken at a bird reserve nearby. I was not really paying much attention to them but suddenly something happened...

Something is going on... one gull is about to regurgitate... Sorry that pic is not sharp and I missed the regurgitation really.

The right gull regurgitated an egg and the other one is "playing" with it

But the right gull took it back

Made a hole in it and "ate" it back (no shot sorry)

Cattle Egret Landing

Sun, Wind and birds.
We always want the sun at our back or over one shoulder when taking pictures. It helps to know that birds land, takeoff and sit facing the wind. If the sun is over your left shoulder you want the wind left to right.

TBMike,

excellent shot and good advice.
I took me a while to digest what you wrote.
This evening I had the sun in my back setting and the heron colony ahead of me, wind was also facing me - not ideal...
best regards,
Bernd

Hi all,

here are some shots from today.
I finally shot in ARW again, colours are muted when processed in C1 but with a little help of saturation things look ok again.
1. the herons are getting BIG (not as big as mommy or daddy, though):

2. Black tit(?), Kohlmeise:

1:1 crop:

I must say that I was absolutely amazed at the level of detail on those feathers.
Focus is not exactly on the eye, but those feathers do look fascinating -
to me it's almost like looking "into" the bird...
regards,
Bernd

@Slowpc : can't see your pic?

@TBMike: thanks! Sometimes I'm not sure if only I get carried away when looking at shots, so it's good to get additional feedback

Bernd
