An Oriental Magpie Robin shot at a coffee estate in Coorg, India. Shot using the Alpha 200 and the Tamron 200-500.

@Nebbor - that's an unusual perspective. How did you manage it?

Here's a few kept birds.

Excellent flock of shots on this page.

Not sure what this guy is, my guess either a Thrush or honeyeater, perhaps Brandy, Stan or Richard (geardown) can help with the ID.

Depends where the shot was taken. It is either a Singing Honeyeater or Varied Honeyeater. My money would be on the Singing Honeyeater

Steve I'd go with Peter on that one since the Singing Honeyeater is quite widespread whereas the Varied Honeyeater is pretty well confined to the mangroves of Cape Yorke. I took a similar one a couple of weeks ago near Kalbarri in WA which I'm not sure about. Very similar colouring except around the eyes. My Simpson and Day is not much help. Any thoughts Peter or Richard?

Cheers Brandy.

One of those little brown jobs. Still trying to find the ID for the bird.
Shot with the Sony A700 and the Tamron 200-500.

There's been some brilliant work put up while I've been off net.

@Outback88, yep, that's a Singing Honeyeater.

@Brandy - you got yourself a Brown Honeyeater there. Very noisy, very active, right?

@Easypete - Your first shot is of a male and female Mulga Parrot. The pretty boy is the male. I can't help feeling a bit sad that they are in a cage, and not in their natural home which is the wide open spaces of the Aussie outback. It's a real joy to get a pair of these guys at dawn as the sun is coming up over the desert horizon.
