OK, my friend and I went and shot some birds at lunch around campus. He had his Nikon D90s with Nik35-105/3.5-4.5D and I had my A700 with Min35-105/3.5-4.5 original. Both cameras and lenses performed similarly, the following are a few of my shots.

1. White faced Heron at one of the ponds.

2. Evil Duck (and lunch stealer) Lens in macro mode

3. Masked Lapwing

4. Silver Gull (another lunch time nuisance) Lens in macro mode

Larger versions can be gotten here.

Very nice start to the new thread guys - in particular, aa's Osprey and Okapi's flight sequence. And a big welcome to Tassie (love that look on the owl's face). And a nice find on the white faced heron wolfy. Where was the walk-around 600/4?

Cheers, Frank

The 600/4 is a bit big for carrying to my work place.

But stay tuned.

This morning I was looking for a pair of nesting finches ... no luck with them but this Superb Fairy-wren posed just long enough for a couple of quick bursts from about 10 ft.

Right side ...
