Yes it is a Grey Hornbill. Nice-sighting! You normally see plenty of the Red-Billed and Yellow-Billed Hornbills but only a few of these. Rich |

This "Bombycilla garrulus " is a rare bird here in The Netherlands.
some years you wont's see them at all, and other years you will find some of them. I do like the "Zorro"mask of this bird Regards Hans Brinkel Edited by Hans B - 27 March 2010 at 21:44 |

Thank you for the info... My bird-knowledge really sucks (and I must say I actually haven't made an effort to learn them...) |

While they are not nearly as good as the other fine shots here, I was excited to see this young Cooper's Hawk in my yard. There has been a lot of loud squabbling recently as this youngster has been encroaching on the territory of a well-established adult pair. It may be one of their offspring. It would be great if they could all get along and take care of the rabbits that won't leave my garden alone. Anyway, it's not often I get to photograph one and thought I'd share two heavily cropped images...
Both with A700+70300G (exif embedded) Cheers... Brian |
