Hezu

Great action with the dipper and water - the water droplets and surface - makes it all come alive.

Hotdog - Absolutely fantastic shot of the robin makes me homesick (I'm a Brit living in Oz).
Here's a shot I took yesterday of a Rainbow Lorikeet. It was sitting on a palm frond in my backyard about 30 feet away. Shot at 500mm handheld using the focus magnifier on the a65 really helps get a sharp image

Nice shot Steve. I have a pet Rainbow Lorikeet that drives the family mad with his screeching in the morning. I'd be happy to come and glue him to your tree any time

Frank - no thanks and I sympathise with the family it seems the prettier the bird the worse the song (also works in reverse as some of the uglier birds have the prettier song).

Hotdog - yes they are very noisy as Frank said they screech they're also very messy birds as when they're up in the palm trees it rains palm nuts they also love fruit trees unfortunately. Very pretty birds though.

Stevo

Screech or noisy, certainly wonderful colours. Hope you not too warm at present!

Warm and humid here at the moment thanks Graham though I just finished reading an email from my aunty over there complete with photos of snow covered fields and icy ponds - I do miss the snow but not the cold.

@ darosa: Interesting B/W- conversion; makes a certain look to this picture, although the bird might have a little less contrast against the background.

Yes, fairly close, Serdar. But it's a 50% crop, so make that a 140mm shot (if my math is correct).

@ Marc: yes, you don't have the colour to make the separation with the background; but I didn't like the harsh light in the colour version; and I love bw!

@ darosa: "but I didn't like the harsh light in the colour version; and I love bw!"

I love B/W too; it wasnīt a critics for the B/W conversion itself and often you really have harsh light that disturbs, thatīs right. What I tried to mention is that sometimes the B/W loses the contrast or it is fairly hard to separate the subject from the background.

Nevertheless a very outstanding picture not only because of the B/W conversion.

Regards

Marc
