It is a little embarrassing to add pictures of robin in this beautiful thread, but that is what I have...

Don't take pictures while I am eating!

Once again stunning avian images. We do really have some top class avian photographers here. Always a pleasure to look at this thread, knowing what goes into getting that great avian shot.

I came across a Green Wood Hoopoe nest yesterday and sat for a few hours watching it. The parents would bring some food every 20 or so minutes but are as fast as lightning to enter and leave the nest. It was also under a branch of the tree so the nest was in shade whilst everything else in full sun. A bit of a lighting nightmare!

Was at a wildlife rescue when I saw this little guy on a post. Light was bad, but I love the colors on the Americn Kestrel.

This guy was pretty fun. Geese will land on the ice, but they slide so they end up having a moment of frantic flapping to slow down their forward motion on the ice.

This Female Sparrow Hawk is a regular predator at my garden feeders.
I caught a glimpse of her in one of the willows on a very dark, overcast & very wet day at about 40 metres: A77 Sal70400G which is my first step into digital photography which is very much a learning curve for me.

Dennis- this is a fabulous shot. How close were you and how much cropping and enlarging did you have to do with this? The detail/focus is amazing and having worked with my 70-300 G at least in my case I have to be pretty close of I can't get the detail to come out.

Thanks
steve

Robby- fantastic shots. I love them all but have to say the 3rd and 4th are my favorites. Great clarity and detail. S. Africa is on my bucket list and hope some day to get there.

All the best and keep sharing these great photos.

A cold kept me indoors most of the week but on my first drive around fresh out of "quarantine" I happened to come by three immature redtail siblings - one dismantling a feathered lunch while both others were anxiously walking around it and hoping to steal some scraps. I snuck up closer in my car, which caused one of the hopefuls to fly off, but fortunately the other two kept at it for long enough to catch this:
