a900, Minolta 100 2.8 macro. This original glass still holds up very well... its only weakness is the non-circular aperture, which shows some distracting flare shapes on back-lit images.
a900, Minolta 20mm 2.8. I am finding this lens prone to chromatic aberration in contrastingly-lit corners like this. Resulting blue fringing. I have made some great panorama enlargements to 30" wide from crops through the middle with Velvia film though. Edited by DavidB - 30 October 2008 at 08:52 |

Ah yes, I used to have a tripod like that. I used to lie it on its side for low shots! Not exactly stable, but better than hand held. You've reminded me how much I love my current tripod that's much more versatile. |

You are right, the lower the better. I'll try to follow your advice next time. Actually, my tripod with fixed bar limited me more than my knees. They were muddy enough ;) |

I only just saw this, but thanks for these kind comments, hpmickey. The Cosina is a very capable lens, and so small and light that it's easy to always have in your camera bag. And you've reminded me that I haven't been out looking for fungi yet this year. Maybe I'll try this weekend. I like your first picture (stag's horn fungus), but can I suggest you could have got a little lower? You probably would have got muddy knees in the process, but sometimes you have to suffer for your art :-) |
