Kingfisher. The bird was quite a distance away, this being a 100% crop at 300mm full zoom. This is using a Kenko Pro300 1.4x TC to give 420mm. The camera was supported on a monopod. EXIF is intact although the TC has passed original lens info through to the camera without correcting it. Some sharpening applied to the raw image before conversion to jpeg.

Both images I shot in the last 24 hrs just to demonstrate the lens. I didn't cherry-pick the best shot I've taken over the last 9 months. The bottom image (f4.0 300mm, ISO 400) is straight from the camera, the upper image (F4.0 140 mm) modified a touch to make their faces brighter, not much though at all.

Taken with a700, corrected exposure by -0.5ev in lightroom, cropped to about 60% and sharpened
