Just a quick heads up, Park Cameras are listing a Sigma 500 F4.5 EX DG APO in A mount for £1189 (go through Topcashback and you can knock off around £20 ) these are rare as hens teeth in A mount so thought it might help someone, I have no connection with Park Cameras but do own the same lens and it is superb.

Are these really worth that much? I bought mine years ago secondhand from a pro sports tog who used it for rugby - I paid half that then. I loved it on my a99 with a little micro adjustment. It's sat in its big box unused for ages. I've been hanging onto it in case it becomes useful again with an ea5 or similar. If I thought someone would pay that I'd sell in a heartbeat

Get it listed then ! That said , what a firm is advertising something at doesn't mean that they can sell it for that . They might only get £500 for it when they finally do shift it . I've just bought a Minolta 400mm f/4.5 in its original case in good condition for £700 , typically advertised for over £1100 , usually from Japan plus 20% TAX and handling . ( So with the Minolta teleconvters I have , I'm fixed up ) Likewise I've just picked up a Minolta 300mm f/2.8 , full set of filters and the slot in polariser for £800 , all in the original case , good as new . Again much less than I've seen them at . So the initial asking price doesn't mean much . If they have it sitting on their shelf for a while , they'll accept a smaller offer . There again , anyone interested , hang around and they'll miss out ! |

Hmmm thanks for that. I think I'll take it for a spin chasing kingfishers on my a7r3 with the old ea4 adapter and see how it works. If I don't enjoy the experience of carting it about I'll think about shifting it.
Btw I've also got the older minolta 300 2.8,just a joy to use but also gathering dust. I feel a clearout coming up 😔 |

If going to use on E mount, At that price I think an extra £300 for the 200-600 is better use of money. Yes it's a stop and a half slower at the long end but i would expect the other advances to make up for it.

Well, that UK deals went absolutely crazy. Today on Ebay the biggest winning bid was only GBP 430.00 (around 510 €) for one mid ehm Minolta 300 F2.8 LINK https://www.ebay.com/itm/304198064112?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=ABf1oChrSufXceHv0j7j8BdrRW0%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc.

And I thought I got a good deal ! ![]() Still , at least mine had the full set of filters and the polariser ! ![]() I was going to put bid on it as mines the earlier version , not the HS one , but changed my mind . And sell mine on later . I'd typed in £425 , so wouldn't have got it anyway . But if I hadn't changed my mind , I'd be gutted at losing out for a fiver ! Edited by neilt3 - 31 October 2021 at 19:18 |

Well, well, well. At least I know who is buying all the tele Minoltas here! It is neilt3!
![]() ![]() ![]() I hope that I get to opportunity to find one here. It will be my last lens from Minolta. But I just have no luck or circumstances are bit... Otherwise, my "winter lazy season" had started, so opportunity to take some pictures will be from March or May next year. So until that time... I keep eye on deals! |

I had hoped to to do a bit of deer stalking this weekend with the 300mm while I were off work , but it hasn't stopped raining . The rest of the week doesn't look too good either . Oh well , I've been after them for nearly 30 years , a bit longer to actually use them won't harm ! ![]() |

As an aside, I spent a few minutes browsing thru your subclub, Joe.
A fascination blast into the past you have there. |

I'm amazed everyday how many people still use subminiature cameras.
The past is still present. |
