July Challenge - "Classical Subjects"

Welcome to the Dyxum July challenge for 2022!

July 4 - July 31

This is the thread to sign up for this Challenge.

This July, we are inviting members to take part in a challenge designed to engage in “classic subjects”.
The challenge will start July 4 and end July 31. There will be a training thread to make yourself familiar with the subjects and to plan your activities. The subjects are:

Week A: landscape/seascape/cityscape photography
Week B: macro/close-up/minimum focusing distance photography
Week C: street photography
Week D: using flashs/artificial light

There are no dates given for the weeks. The purpose of this is to give you complete freedom in choosing the moment that you make and post your photos as long as you make your photos between the start date (July 4) and the end date (July 31) of the challenge.

Flexibility is maxed: You can even do all four subjects in one week! - or you can choose just one subject and choose the week in July when to do it. Thus, you are completely free to choose what to do and to select the week in July when to do it. If you can't commit to 4 weeks or 4 subjects, respectively, just do 1, 2 or 3 weeks/subjects.

In the first week of the challenge (July 4 - July 10) we will post 4 Day threads every day, one for each week. At the end of the first week, all Day threads of the challenge will be open for your contributions; and you are free to fill them with your photos.

Each participant can post 7 photos per week, one per day. Also, don't worry if you can't commit to 7 each week - maybe try 3 or 5 each week. Naturally, there will be an outtakes thread for posting additional pics.

This challenge is for everyone! It does not matter if you are a professional or a beginner. Everyone will learn something and everyone can enjoy it. The goal is to go out shooting and have fun!

Participants are encouraged to specify their engagement with subjects in more detail – “extra challenges”, e.g., to shoot street photography in B/W only, or to do light painting at night. State your additional challenge when you sign up.

Rules

1. Only one pic per member in each daily thread. For additional pics an outtake thread will be created.
2. A or E mount cameras preferred, but we allow for other camera systems in this challenge as long as they are not used for the majority of your posted images. Any lens goes - zoom or prime. This is not a prime-focused challenge as we have them in April and October
3. Comment on other photographs in the Talk Thread as much as possible.
4. Cropping should be minimized, straightening is always permissible.

Would like more people to join.

I am considering using the A99m2 - it is such a lovely camera that I do not use.

Alright, I'm in. The first two themes should be sufficiently easy, macros I would probably shoot even if there wasn't a challenge asking for me to do that. Street and artificial lighting might be more challenging subjects. One possible challenging thing might be that I may spend time away from any streets, so I wonder how I can take street photos then...

You could always cram all four tasks into the weeks before your departure...
