Flickr is not moving to google but to AWS (Amazon Web Services) according to their blog

Today it's not very stable, but I think we can hardly imagine how many bazillion of photos they had to move and what other problems the move might have caused. I will only judge the result later and not by what I see today, just a day after the move.

It looks like they have underestimated it. Otherwise they should not have promised a restart after 12 hours to their customers.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment; I have a subscription renewal coming up in a few months when I'll face the doubling of rates they introduced earlier this year. If it doesn't get better in terms of performance and functionality (particularly with the mobile apps) then I'll have to rethink what I do.

Bad, bad panda! Managed to upload two images today. Gave up after that. Flickr is having teething problems. If they don't fix it they go under.

All is well at Flickr this morning. Much faster than before the transfer.

I've tried uploading to Flickr via Lightroom and get an error, 'Flickr API returned an error message (function upload, message nil)'. Only one of three photos got through.

Update: third time lucky. However, Add to Group and Organiser are not very quick. Overall it still feels part-baked.
