Something very peculiar happened

Out of the blue I got a notice from flickr that I was now an administrator of one of their flickr groups
I wasn't consulted or even asked, I just was
I'm a pro member and I'm a member of the group. It's not one of their big groups. The group is a small niche group that has only been around a few years. I didn't even join it on my own. I was invited to share one of my photos w them, as I'm sure many here have been invited to do so in other groups. I have posted a few photos every once in a while, when I remember.

I didn't really know what to make of this and after a while I just forgot all about it, until I went to their groups section one time and there I saw that I was administrator of a group
I clicked on it and saw there was a months worth of photos that were waiting for my approve or deny!

Now out of regards for those photographers and because the group is photos of the Southwest I went ahead and did, for the group members. I find myself administering the group in that fashion and posting photos of my own. There are very excellent photos in the group

There is an admin section, one of the things is titled "How to administer a happy group" with stuff like "check in on the group regularly? Really!
Like I said it's small group, 62 members, 3,300 photos

It's kind of fun, 🤷‍♂️ I don't really know what to make of it

That's very interesting, and a bit puzzling.
I would have thought you would have to actively step up into such a role, rather than find it's fallen in your lap without your agreement.
I guess if you don't want to take it on there would be some way of letting Flickr Admins know so the group doesn't back up with un-approved images waiting to be added.
Anyway, seems like it's something you're able and pleased to do, so kudos to you.

Hmmm. I'm in a few groups, as are a few of us I suspect. I didn't know this might happen. I suppose the only way to pass on the admin role is to leave the group if that's an option. As Fred S says, a link to "your" group would be interesting. 3300 pictures is a good number. Some of the groups I'm in are much smaller.
