Does anyone know what the part name for the mode dial top cover is? I mean this:
ie. I've scuffed the top dial where the panorama/SCN text is and whilst the dial functions as normal I hate that it now looks bad (reads as 'SC'). It seems to be a stuck down cover as I can get a fingernail under it. I'm shattered the camera now doesn't look new :( |

which cam you are searching this part for ![]() Sorry to inform you, but the mechanical outer parts of the dial are an integral part of the body top cover. The sticky cover of the dial is not available as a separate spare part. The body top cover (mechanical part only) has the part# X-2582-338-1 (CV TOP COVER(870) ASSY). edit: added "separate" Edited by ddd - 17 January 2015 at 13:13 |

That doesn't make any sense. You have to buy the whole body top cover just so you can replace a small dial cover?

Is this unusual? In order to get a headlamp retaining clip for a Mazda 5 (it's basically a wire bent into a specific shape), you have to buy a whole headlamp assembly (over $1000 US). Needless to say, I found an alternative solution... What Moredsir needs is the camera equivalent of a junk yard. |

But you will be very relieved to hear that you can buy the small 'α' logo for the front of the camera as a separate part. $15.95. Just in case you were wondering ![]() |

Maybe we should stock up on the logos, just in case they won't be available in the future?

Ahoy!
Not having read the the whole thread, has the OP contacted Sony and asked directly regarding the parts and availability? |

that part is rarely needed as a separate spare part, so stocking up this part as a spare part will be very expensive. Adhesive spare parts needed for regular repairs are available as part of assemblies or sometimes as a single part. Why the "alpha" logo is sold as a separate part may be because ist is used by many models, so stocking up makes sense -ok, sort of-. Many parts that are used for different models or generally used like screws are available, but parts that only fit one singel model are often only available as complete assemblies or kits. This is true not only for Sony but every manufacturer of electronics worldwide. |

That would make sense for a third party service/parts store where the third party store could be stuck with minimum order purchase, etc. For Sony it shouldn't make any difference to run the production line a few minutes longer to produce the small parts and ship the parts to Sony service/parts centers. |

Is there a similar forum thread for service links? I'm considering getting my A77 professionally cleaned (depending on $$$) but not sure where to start looking or even consider sending it. I know the Sony site is probably the first place to go ... any options? Any prior experiences that could be shared - good or bad?
I'm in the US. Thanks. |

Which part is dirty? I haven't encountered any cleaning needs on the A77 that I can't handle myself. |
