I got an email from CameraNu, a big online retailer in the Netherlands.

They've got some pretty good Black Friday deals on Sony cameras and lenses:

Sony Black Friday deals

I couldn't resist and just ordered an A7Rii

I guess my "original" A7 will be for sale quite soon on here

Congrats for your new camera! The a7rii is great camera and although I have the ok for my wife to buy a new camera, I cannot convince myself that I need more than the a7rii offers...
Maybe now that I bought the 200-600mm lens I will need the better AF of newer bodies...

Congrats Pieter! If I hadn't just bought a 2nd hand in a good deal recently, I probably would have jumped in here as well

Good choice, Pieter! Congratulations!

Shay: The A7Riii has come down in price as well!

Enjoy the new camera Pieter. Welcome to the world of really big files.

Thanks all, the new camera already arrived yesterday, about 24 hours after ordering. The files are indeed a lot bigger but I don't think that's the major feature that made me decide to upgrade my 'original' A7 to an A7Rii, 24 MP would have been OK for me as well. It's more the silent shutter, being able to set the max shutter speed with auto iso, IBIS and the much sturdier mount.

So I'm happy and my computer still seems to cope well with the bigger files.

Congrats. Being able to crop more is nice and it is noticably better at higher ISOs than the A7 (I went from and to the same cameras). IBIs is such a welcome comeback. Silent shutter is situational and min shutter speed with auto ISO can be overriden if the camera decides enough darkness is enough.
