I've never been so happy that my expectations were so wrong.
Has anyone found a link to a valid compatibility page?

I wonder if they will also be adding A-mount Lens Compensation to the A6600.

Maybe other older cameras will also get firmware updates for more capability with this. Screw-driven AF seem limited to just two cameras, and those require firmware updates for it.

They don't mention any change to the aperture drive. The aperture operation in the LA-EA3 and LA-EA4 is considerably more clunky than the low-end A-mount bodies. For example they open-fully whenever changing aperture including during video recording resulting in blown out frames and extra audible noise.

Just checked the date ... it’s the first of September, not of April

As this adapter replaces both the EA3 and EA4 - with the right body - it’s pretty tempting. It also means that Gary’s EA4r becomes less interesting, as I like the idea that no hack is required.

I can't find anything official , compatibility wise , but dpreview says it works on ;
Sony a7 III
Sony a7R III
Sony a7R IV (up to 10 fps)
Sony a6100
Sony a6400
Sony a6600 (up to 11 fps)
Sony a9 (up to 10 fps)
Sony a9 II (up to 10 fps)
Sony a7S III

Another good thing with this is it also works with SSM and SAM lenses , unlike the LA-EA4r modification .
Anyone want to buy my LA-EA4 ?

I've never understood those omissions with Sony's adapters. What's the deal there?

This announcement is absolutely unreal to me. I have owned the 135 ZA for years and have thought of selling it because of lackluster AF performance on the LA-EA4. The going rate was always too low for me to part.

This will bring it back to life!

I'm also regretting all the A mount things I've sold or the lenses I've passed on because they seemed a little pricey.

Going to look for a Minolta 100mm f2 and 500mm f8 now.

That's for motorized lenses.

Sony's video indicates that screw drive lenses are supported only with the A7RIV and A6600.

Oh wow. This might be a reason to get a A7r4

What I do not understand is why the A6400 is not supported. Might that be because of the battery?

I've never pre-ordered anything, but I will probably get my name on a list somewhere! It would only work fully on my a6600, but I will still have the ea3 & 4 to use with the a7Rii. I've been cautiously excited about the monster 4r since that discussion started, but this is exciting at a whole 'nother level!

That's a good thought. I was curious whether the LA-EA4 performs better with the bigger battery, but didn't test it. The new battery is very nice. I don't have a charger and just have the one battery, and it has been no problem. I have 4 NP-FM500H's and a charger left after selling the A77II.
