Quite, my point exactly.

If he gets the basics wrong, what other errors are there that
People didn't spot?

The adaptor looks good, but not perfect.

Have mine on order, so I will See what I think when I get it.

The problem with reviews is that there are many little mistakes that go unnoticed resulting in opinions that are incorrect or based on incomplete data.
Example, they evaluate af speed using two lenses with heavy front elements and long AF throw and generalize the overall speed with old lenses as they put it.
Btw these two lenses are still currently available products on Sony A-mount system catalog.

they're also probably 2 of the more popular modern screw drive lenses.
Agreed that would have loved to seen more of the older stuff.

The youtube video that tested the older glass was pretty good - at least it works but its hard to tell real world performance until they are in the wild and get some heavy use by people who know the gear best

Here's a 22 minute Youtube Sony LA-EA5 with 26 a-mount lenses clip showing the LA-EA5 on an a7RIV being used with 26 classic and widely used a-mount lenses made by Sony, Minolta, Sigma, Tamron.
The video shows each lens focus as it pans around the same subjects from foreground to background, indicating the lock on. Ranging from the widest Sigma 15mm f2.8 linear fisheye through to the Minolta 500mm f8 AF Reflex and everything between including primes and zooms.
The oldest being first generation Minolta primes and the latest being Sigma Art series and the Sony SAL70200F28 SSM2.
It certainly leaves me feeling satisfied that when/if my a-mount camera bodies fall over, I will have a reasonably affordable means of keeping my fine a-mount lenses alive through the purchase of this adaptor and a new e-mount body.

Hardly classic and widely used - I have 5 of these 25 lenses, there were a lot of third party lenses. But it is good to see it works with these lenses.

How does this adapter supports 10 FPS on the A7RIV and 11 FPS on the A6600 while the LA-EA3 only supports 10 FPS on the A9 models with their electronic shutters?

The Sony Lens Compatibility site now indicates that the A7RIV and A6600 support Hi+ tracking with the LA-EA3.

LA-EA5 w/ older SSM & SAM Lenses:

When you perform continuous shooting in the Hi+, Hi, or Mid mode while the focus mode is set to AF-C, the focus does not track a subject. To enable AF continuous shooting by setting continuous shooting to Hi+, Hi, or Mid mode, the system software must be upgraded to Ver. 1.20 or later.

When you perform continuous shooting in the Hi+, Hi, or Mid mode while the focus mode is set to AF-C, the speed of continuous shooting can be slower.

LA-EA5 w/ SSM II & late SAM Lenses:

When you perform continuous shooting in the Hi+, Hi, or Mid mode while the focus mode is set to AF-C, the focus does not track a subject. To enable AF continuous shooting by setting continuous shooting to Hi+, Hi, or Mid mode, the system software must be upgraded to Ver. 1.20 or later.

LA-EA3 w/ SSM & SAM Lenses:

When you perform continuous shooting in the Hi+, Hi, or Mid mode while the focus mode is set to AF-C, the focus does not track a subject. To enable AF continuous shooting by setting continuous shooting to Hi+, Hi, or Mid mode, the system software must be upgraded to Ver. 1.20 or later and the Mount Adaptor software must be upgraded to Ver. 02 or later.

I wonder if the extra note about "...the speed of continuous shooting can be slower" also applies to the LA-EA3 with older SSM and SAM lenses.

This Sony page still says "ILCE-7RM4" "Using LA-EA3" "This is only compatible with Continuous Shooting Lo."

I did ask the guy who made the video about TCs, his response:

SEL14TC/SEL20TC: could not attach on the LAEA5.
SAL14TC/SAL20TC: could be attached on the LAEA5, however it won't be detected by the camera.
Tamron MC4 1.4x TC: works perfectly

Without testing little more can be said, but it looks as if third party TCs may be fine.

From what I read it seems to behave like previous adapter - no AF and no aperture control.
