Sony Vertical Grip: VG-C99AM--I need the tray that holds the two batteries in this grip for the Sony A99 DSLR. I am having trouble locating one. Can you help? Thanks.

Sony's parts suppliers don't carry it.

Could you buy a cheap, non OEM, grip of any type that uses the same batteries and use the tray?? Toss the grip. I know I love the SONY original grips on my A700 and 900's, great stuff.
Just luvin' DYXUM.

I'd look for someone selling a broken one with a good tray.

I can't really think of another way to get one. Other than just buying a whole additional grip.

I can't answer your question, but what you call "tray", may be better known as "slider". I've always seen people refer to it as the battery slider. Knowing that may help in locating one.

FWIW I just checked mine and the trays are interchangeable between the a99 and a77 grips.

Here's one, sticker shock alert!

The part # is 1-780562-31 from what I can find, there's no part number on the trays themselves.

Yeah, it's a discontinued part that was probably never available in the first place. 88 bucks when it was

Forget about that first link, they're just resellers who stock nothing I'm guessing considering the rip off job at play.

Have a look at the used A77 vertical grips on Amazon (a cheaper solution than the link above).

Welcome AK_Jon!

For my A77, A700 and the old A200 I use the Original Sony VG's. The slider, or tray, is interchangable. However I bought a Meike grip for my A900 and the tray doesn't fit in the original Sony VG's. So buying a 3rd party grip just for the tray is tricky.
Quit a lot of ALPHA and NEX gear, a nice collection of Sigma lenses, Dynax and M42 stuff, Gitzo's, Visico's and lots of video-equipment

yeah, I need to get out and shoot more, I don't even know what I have anymore...

I never bought the grip for my a77, but I did for the a700 and that's the battery tray that also fits my a99 grip.

So the product description for the a99 battery tray states it is also compatible with the a77, and now we can throw the a700 and a200 trays into the mix, which actually is every A-mount body that has a grip option IIRC?

No, I don't think so. The A33 and A55 series used different batteries so if 3rd party grips are availible for those models the tray would be different.

No vertical grips for those. I think stiuskr spoke about Sony original grips, not third party - but my Jupio A77ii grips slider and my VG-C90AM are the the same.

Yeah, just the Sony's, der dickgg had already ruled out the Meinke's.
I'm curious about why one is needed? Broken? Lost? My first thought was it should be a spare part and should be available but this is the first I've heard of one needed so maybe there's no market for them? I think if I was a pro it'd be nice to have an already loaded fresh tray ready to replace a used one.

If the trays are interchangable between the grips, that opens up a lot of other options.

The odds of finding an old grip for cheap are much higher than finding someone with a spare tray for the A99 grip.

KEH refers to this part as "NP-FM500H Battery Holder", not that they have any right now.

They do have a VGB50AM (the grip for the A500 & A550) for $80.
